Friends of the Children–Seattle exists because deep, long-term relationships are critical to healthy and successful children. While the families we work with have been impacted by poverty and systemic barriers, our kids refuse to be defined by their challenges. For 20 years, we’ve supported children to reach their dreams by selecting them in kindergarten and committing a paid, professional mentor to them for four hours a week for 12+ years. Today, we are in 151 classrooms in over 50 schools in 15 school districts, and, despite facing the toughest challenges, our youth graduate high school at a rate higher than their peers in Washington State.

Today, our 20/20 vision is clearer than ever: children facing the greatest risks in King County will enter kindergarten with a mentor by their side. They will not be defined by the challenges, but by their brilliance and will go on to be a leader and mentor in their own community.

Celebrate with us.

Inspiring Greatness

Please join us in your homes on October 3rd for Inspiring Greatness: A Virtual Evening to Benefit Friends of the Children–Seattle. Led by our Host Committee, this virtual gala will be filled with powerful stories about what it means to be a No Matter What organization over the past 20 years, especially during the COVID-19 crisis. Throughout the evening, you will have an opportunity to hear from professional mentors about supporting youth and families during COVID-19, celebrate our youth's successes and connect with other supporters online.

When: Saturday, October 3, 2020

Where: Join the live stream on our event website from your own home!

Time: 6:00-7:00 p.m.

We've partnered with local Black-owned restaurants so you can order a dinner for two and support our youth and families during this health crisis.

If you are interested in being a virtual host or sponsoring this event, please contact Sierra Wagner, our Development Coordinator, at Sierra@friendsseattle.org.
