Staff: Jalen Calhoun (he/him)

Jalen was born in Germany and considers himself an army brat since he and his family traveled around with the military before they settled in Washington. As an avid traveler, he thinks New Orleans is his favorite city to visit. The food is amazing, the people and culture are so rich, and the music is to die for.

He graduated from the University of Washington and enjoyed his time as a husky. Jalen has a passion for abolition and even in his career at UW he worked to dismantle systems of oppression.

Jalen started working at Friends of the Children because he wanted to serve the community. His favorite thing about being a mentor is seeing his youth become the people they want to be.
