Lauren is a daughter of immigrant parents from Hong Kong. She was born and raised in Vancouver, WA but moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington where she studied Communications, Spanish, and Anthropology.
After graduating from UW, she moved to a small, Galician town in Spain called Vilagarcía de Arousa, where she taught English to preschool and primary school students. She claims this was one of the best times of her life despite the fun being cut short by the pandemic and lockdown which occurred halfway through her time abroad.
Throughout Lauren's life, she has always loved being involved in the community and helping others. From volunteer and leadership roles as a Key Clubber in high school to Hong Kong Student Association and Circle K International in college to being a language assistant to non-English speakers, she hopes to now help make an impact through her time at Friends of the Children-Seattle. Inspired by her teaching experiences, Lauren is excited to support youth through her work again.
Lauren is passionate about connecting with people, especially via social media. If you don’t see her working on social media posts for her job, you’ll find her whipping up content for her personal account and PNW Palate, a new foodie page that she and her friend recently started!
Outside of work, you’ll most likely spot her at a café. You’ll also find her traveling, cooking, exploring new places with friends, hosting gatherings, attending concerts, and learning a new language.
