Throughout the year, Friends-Seattle collaborates with various corporate partners to offer career days for youth. One of our partners, Nordstrom, hosts career days to provide youth with an opportunity to explore different career paths in the fashion industry. Last month, Nordstrom employees hosted a discussion panel about the diverse roles within the company; from human resources and marketing, to concierge, and more! Later in the day, youth also had a chance to enjoy a tour of Seattle's flagship store to learn the history of the building and what goes on behind the scenes to run a store. During a previous Nordstrom career day last August, youth became designers for a day. They created vision boards and discussed how decisions are made about what clothes make it onto the racks in the stores. The youth even got to preview the upcoming season's collection, which gave them a fun opportunity to mix and match different outfits together!
